Grief Tree: A Luminescent Memorial

Presented by Cho Collette

The Grief Tree is an interactive art installation by Dr. Colette F Kaya (artist name: Cho Colette), with design elements by Amy Vickers and Jake Mayer. Conceived as a tribute to Nex Benedict and all those who have experienced grief, this piece invites public participation and reflection within a visually enchanting setting, particularly striking at night. Visitors are encouraged to engage with the Grief Tree by writing their grievances or memories of loved ones, friends, or even celebrity figures on colorful cards provided at the installation. These personal notes are then attached to the tree, transforming it into a living tapestry of shared human experiences. The process is simple: pick a card, write your message, and attach it to the tree, thereby contributing to its evolution throughout the event.

This installation is dedicated to Nex Benedict and everyone who has faced grief. It serves as a space for collective mourning and healing, where visitors can leave a part of their story, learn from others’ experiences, and find comfort in the shared expression of loss and hope.
